One East Asia art space continues to introduce new art to Singapore art connoisseurs. After showcasing Ties and Fragrant Lies, that brought to Singapore sever young Thai artists, the gallery opened Abstract Innovations - exhibition by three local artists Andy Yang, Kanchana Gupta, Yeo Shih Yun, who do paint abstract in different ways. The aim of exhibition supported by National Arts Council is to educate art lovers to understand and appreciate abstract pieces.

On the 18th of September artists, friends and art community gathered at One East Asia gallery for Abstract Innovations - exhibition opening and live performance by one of the featured artists Andy Yang. Guest of Honour Dr Ian Woo, Programme Leader/Senior Leader of the Faculty of Fine Arts @ Lasalle College of Arts Singapore said at the opening, that it's hard to appreciate art, which looks like two-four years old child painting, but public should understand, that it's actually hard to paint as a child. Works of Andy Yang and Kanchana Gupta are full of colors and please eye at first glance. Kanchana Gupta was asking guests to leave their feedback on what are their associations, when they see painting. All thoughts will be collected and studied, as Kanchana has deep interest in people's different perception of the same objects. Yeo Shih Yun's works are more of traditional Chinese ink calligraphy style. Black on White, but the names immidiately switch on your imagination and you think, how exact is the expression given in simple brushstrokes.
Dr Woo's noticed, that all art is abstraction, and One East Gallery is really making good steps by organizing such exhibition, as well as supporting events, that will help public to understand artist's ideas, style and what is the inspiration behind every painting. Art Writer Hsiung Lu Fang together with guest speaker Mr Toh Ee Loong will conduct Artist Talk on the 28th of September, Saturday, 2 - 3pm, Art Jam Sessions will take place on the 4th and 11th of  October 2013, Friday, 3 - 6pm. Please, RSVP, as the seats are limited.
More information, updates, photos from the opening can be found at the One East Asia Fanpage in Facebook, as well as at Gallery web-site.
